Jacelyn is a visual artist and designer from Singapore. Creating under her moniker Bbblob, she explores harmony in form and colour. Inspired by natural forms and symbols that shape our perception, Jacelyn arranges her work into playful compositions. Working across painting, sculpture, textiles and murals, her vivid forms radiate optimism and joy.
Guided by the interaction of form and colour, Jacelyn balances proportion and colour to excite and relief. Her practice sits between painting and object making. In shaping her work, she looks at the painted surface and the painting as an object. The shaped reliefs engage in the theme of perception, inviting viewers to look at what is on the surface and between the relief layers.
Using colours that play with the perception of light and depth, Jacelyn’s paintings evoke a sense of curiosity. Her works form sequences that suggest rhythm and movement, referring to patterns observed in nature and other familiar observations. The idea of assembling forms is an act of balancing, arranging colours, lighter or darker. It is a constant motion that is transient and changing. Jacelyn expresses this transience through interactions.
